Arlene Rickman was born in Binghamton, New York on January 31, 1940 to Rosetta and Jerome Bowen. She was very proud to call herself a Yankee. Arlene came to live in Texas but she would tell any southerner that she was a full-blooded Yankee and proud of it. Arlene enjoyed being with her husband, Paul. They have been together for 43 years and were never very far apart. She enjoyed going to her bay house to relax, but when she was not doing that, she was entertaining friends and family by having shrimp and fish fry's. Arlene enjoyed her grandkids and they enjoyed being with her. When her husband joined the shrine back in 1998, she began to help in any way she could. Arlene and Paul became members of the Greeters, Bowlers and Motor Corp at the Shrine Temple. Arlene also loved to play Mrs. Santa around Christmas time alongside of Mr. Santa (her husband Paul) and they would go to houses and Shrine events, including several parades.Arlene and Paul also got more involved in the Shrine by taking over the circus ticket office. She enjoyed circus time. She would tell everyone to sell circus tickets. She also would go to a school and give out bikes to 2 lucky children when it was circus time. She loved to see their faces when thy won a bicycle. She loved the Shriners and what it stands for: helping Children. Sadly, Arlene passed away, Wednesday, June 3rd after a battle with cancer.
