Billie Louise was born to Bill Charles and Sofie Smith, in San Antonio, TX on June 30, 1923. She was the third girl of four sisters who grew up in Houston, TX during the Great Depression. This is where she met the love of her life, when they were just kids, and the greatest love story ever told unfolded.
Billie and Odell were married on April 25, 1940, when she was only 16 and he 18. They settled in Denver Harbor and raised two children of their own, along with many others that came along through the years. Throughout her marriage she was the epitome of what some might call a domestic goddess. Together she and her husband enjoyed traveling the country with their entire Gypsy family, Houston Astros baseball, and summers at Lake Buchannan.
Through almost 10 decades, 98 years, Billie loved her family fiercely, and was even known to adopt all the neighborhood kids as her own. Nothing made her happier than having all her kids around her. She went to be with the Lord, whom she personally knew well, peacefully, on Saturday, August 14, 2021. The world will never be the same without her. But we are all better to have had her.
