Obituary

Charles Thomas "Tom" Cochran, 71, of La Porte, Texas, went to be with Jesus on September 24, 2025. Born in Humboldt, Tennessee, Tom was the beloved son of Max Daniel and Mary Etta Cochran. While serving in the United States Air Force, Tom married his wife, Linda Sue Cochran, and their daughter Dawn was born. Tom later began a long career with Metro, where he retired as a respected diesel mechanic. Known for his steady hands and strong work ethic, he built a life rooted in dedication, perseverance, and love for his family. To most, he was simply known as Tom, and to those who were closest to him, he was also called Tommy. He is survived by his wife Linda, daughter Dawn Mayfield, and son-in-law Donald Mayfield. He is also remembered with love by his granddaughter Kayla Winsby and her husband John Winsby, and his great-grandchildren Levi, Avery, and Grayer. Tom's memory will also be cherished by his siblings Michael Cochran and wife Gracie, Jim Cochran, Barry Cochran and wife Debbie, Susannah Bailey and husband Joe, and Annette Parker and her late husband Eddy. Family was the heart of Tom's world. He cherished every moment with them, whether it was gathering for barbecues, sharing stories, or riding his motorcycle on a sunny afternoon. Hardworking and dependable, Tom was always the first to lend a hand. His legacy of faith, love, and loyalty will continue through the generations of his family. A visitation and funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at Risen Nation Church, 2121 Genoa Red Bluff Rd., Pasadena, Texas 77505. Viewing will begin at 9:30 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 10:30 a.m. The service is expected to conclude around noon. Interment will take place at 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr., Houston, Texas 77038, at 1:30 p.m., with a police escort. Following the service, family and friends are invited to a reception at the home of Donald and Dawn Mayfield, 607 Beachman Shore Lane, La Porte, Texas 77571. Flowers may be sent to Risen Nation Church for the viewing and service. Tom will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his spirit lives on in the presence of Jesus and in the family he so dearly loved.
