Charles Wayne Swallow also known as "Chuck" or "Pops" was born on August 13, 1941 in Stonington, Illinois to Delos Elwood Swallow and Eileen Jeanette Swallow. His sunset was on August 7, 2021 at the young age of 79. In that time Charles lived a good life with his family that he loved very much. He and his family moved from Portage, Indiana to Murfreesboro, Tennessee to Kuttawa, Kentucky then to South Huston, Texas, finally settling down in La Porte. He married his current wife Ethele Viola Gillaspie in 1976 in Lake Station, Indiana and had been married for 45 years. The marriage grew to include 3 sons and daughter-in-Laws as well as 1 Daughter and son-in-law: Robert Michael Swallow with Marla Swallow, Daniel Wayne Swallow with Molly Swallow, Joan Eileen Swallow with Dennis Dipert and Charles Herman Swallow and Crystal (Castillo) Swallow. Charles was the 2nd of 4 siblings Judy Stempley, Thomas "Big Tom" Swallow, Linda Benky and Nancy Klaja. Charles family grew further to include 15 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He also has too many nieces and nephews to mention. But every one of them knew of his love for them. He was preceded by his parents, Delos and Eileen Swallow; a grandson, Jeffery Smith; siblings, Judy Stempley and Thomas (Big Tom) Swallow; in-laws, Justamae and Herman Gillaspie; and nephew, Tony Klaja.Chuck also known as "Lawnmower Man" as he loved to take care of the yard. One of Chuck's favorite past times was going camping with his kids as well as fishing. Turns out, believe it or not Charles' favorite time of the year was fall. He loved Thanksgiving and spending time with family from both sides, both his and Ethele's One of his achievements in life was joining the Navy where he served for 4 years; from January 11, 1960 until January 10, 1964. He then transferred to the reserves and served until 1966. He ranked as a Boatswains mate 3rd class. Charles then worked at the Bud Company for over 20 years. After leaving Bud he worked at AIS Scaffolding for 7 years. He was able to retire in 2003 and he and Ethele settled in to the "easy life". This loving, dedicated man was very hardworking and always put his family first. All who loved him will miss him, but this is not goodbye it is see you later, until we meet again.
