Deborah Kay Cantu, age 59, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 29, 2020. She was born November 12, 1960 in Gary, Indiana to Fred and Betty Huminik. She married her best friend and love of 13 years, Capt. Jaime Cantu, July 22, 2006 in Galveston, Texas.
Debbie was a dedicated mother, wife, sister, friend and a very proud grandmother. The vivacious energy she radiated along with her unforgettable smile was admired by many. She never met a stranger. Debbie was always into something, rarely ever still and always putting others first. Debbie loved the color pink, flamingos, palm trees, laying out at the pool/beach, spending time with friends and family, planting flowers, golf cart rides with her husband and bowling. She loved to crochet and make afghans for every occasion all while watching General Hospital and eating her favorite candy M&M's. Debbie also had many accomplishments in her lifetime but there were some that she was very proud of. She was a successful track star at Dobie High School in Houston, managed a horseback riding stable in Wisconsin, owned and operated a global online business selling vintage Barbie Dolls and co-owner of Cantu Fishing Charters with her husband, Capt. Jaime, in Galveston, Texas. Debbie enjoyed surrounding herself with loved ones and will be greatly missed.
Debbie is survived by her husband, Capt. Jaime Cantu; daughter and husband Kristin and Treb Alderson; sister Victoria Huminik; three stepdaughters Brittany Cantu, Brandace Borden and Kelsee Cantu; six grandchildren Sophia Cardenas, Lilly Smoke, Colton Smoke, Jaymen Alderson, Ashlynn Alderson, and Laken Alderson. All of which she loved greatly.
Debbie was preceded in death by her parents Fred and Betty Huminik; brother Dale Huminik; brother Randall Huminik; brother Bradley Huminik and brother Daniel Huminik.
