Deborah Ann Jones passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2014 in Galveston, Texas. She was born August 5, 1958 in Irvington, Alabama to Estella (McKenzie) and Earl Johnson. As a child she move to La Porte and lived here her entire life. As one of 7 children she grew into a wonderful daughter, sister, mother, care giver and friend. Deborah is preceded by her father, Earl Johnson; her brothers, Charles Renee McKenzie and Craig Monroe and husband, Ellis Jones. She is survived by her mother, Estella Turner and husband Donnie; sons, James Oliver McKenzie and wife Jackie; and Jermaine Lamont Byron; siblings, Marilyn Taylor and husband Kent, Kevin Monroe, Charles McCovery and Melissa Monroe. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Ashley Nicole Gonzalez, Chantal Denise Gonzalez and Gabrielle Yvonne Gonzalez; aunts, Lula Benjamin, Louise Hall and Carrie Russell as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. A celebration of Deborah's life will be held Saturday, March 22, 2014 at Stepping Stone Funeral Home. The family will receive visitors from 10 – 11 am with services at 11 am. Burial will follow at Twilight Cemetery, La Porte, TX.
