On July 6, 1938 in Lafayette Louisiana a baby boy was born to Lela (Jones) and McKiney Thomas. They named him Earl Thomas. Earl Thomas worked as a maintenance man for 21 years to Mr. John Sheiffer. Earl enjoyed talking and hanging out with his friends and family. He always has a joyous smile on his face. He resided in La Porte for 40 years. Earl worked until his illness brought him down. He passed away in a nursing home in Pasadena. He departed his life on April 19, 2014. He leaves to mourn his passing his daughter, Judy Mixon and husband Alfred. Also his sisters; Ella Mae Thornton, Lillie Warren, Hillary Mae Scott (of California) and Francis Jordan; Brother, Bobby Joe Thomas and wife Rose and Eddie Thomas and wife Estella all of La Porte. Earl also leaves behind three grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Earl is preceded by his parents; a brother, Leroy Thomas and sisters; Mildred William, Susie Hill and Martha Warren. A visitation will be held, Friday, April 25 starting at 9:00 am at Stepping Stone Funeral Home, 215 S. Broadway Street, La Porte, TX 77571 followed by services at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at Twilight Cemetery, La Porte, TX.
