Obituary

Elijah Lowe was born August 17, 1943 in Athens, Louisiana, to Bertha and Lonnie Lowe. As he grew, he worked in the construction industry where he became a master cement mason and foreman. His work took him from his home state of Louisiana to California and then to Texas, where he remained. He always preferred living out in the country and particularly took a liking to living in the Texas Hill Country. RV life suited him and enabled him to pick up and go whenever he wanted. He was a great cook and at one time owned his own Cajun restaurant named E.L. Cajun. He enjoyed eating home cooked soul and Cajun food, and fishing. He took great pride and delight in watching his grandsons play their respective sports. He was talented in many ways and loved using his hands, whether it was pouring cement, landscaping or assisting neighbors with odds and end jobs. And work always goes a little smoother with some good old blues music. After a courageous battle with lung cancer he passed away peacefully April 20, 2015. He was preceded in death by his mother: Mrs. Bertha Lowe (Mama Juicy)and his father, LonnieLowe, his brothers: Lonnie Lowe Jr., Wilburt Lowe and Harry "Bill" Lowe. Left to cherish his memory are his sisters: Teresa, Jean and Lesibee; three daughters and son-in-laws and one son; Jennifer & Cliff Chavis of Houston, Texas, Amber & Darius Lowe of Grand Prairie, Texas, Veronica & Kerri Joseph of Pearland, Texas and Mike Lowe of La Porte, Texas. He also leaves behind grandsons: Jackson Chavis, Brayden Chavis, Darius Lowe, Jaiden Lowe and Montrell Lowe and friends and extended family that will miss him dearly. In lieu of flowers we ask that families and friends make contributions to the MD Anderson Thoracic Center and/or Houston Hospice, as both of these institutions lovingly took care of him. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held, Saturday, April 25 at Stepping Stone Funeral Home, 215 S. Broadway, La Porte, Texas at 2 o'clock in the afternoon.
