Mario Octavio Muńiz was born August 8, 1964 to Rafaela (Gonzalez) and Alfonso Muńiz Sr. in Matamoros, Tamps, Mexico. When Mario was young the family moved to Houston. Along with mom and Dad, Mario had 4 sisters and a brother. The youngest two (Sandra and Alfonso) were born in Houston. Always feisty and full of life, Mario lived in Pasadena for a bit and settled down in La Porte. During his life he loved Sandra Acevedo and they had two children; Mario Jr. and Tiffany. As things in life happen, Sandra and Mario parted ways. But Mario was such a love, Rebecca Peńa came into his life, and they had a little girl; Melissa Peńa. Throughout his short life Mario loved fishing and camping. His favorite teams, the Texans and the Astros were always good for a great afternoon enjoying a favorite "adult" beverage (or two) and partying with friends. He might even be putting out the BBQ as friends arrive. Many people know Mario from Nick's Garage on Main Street. He loved working on the cars and was generally a fun crazy guy to be around.In June of this year Mario was diagnosed with cancer. He was angry and fought with a vengeance. He started Chemo treatments. The battle went on, but the cancer spread faster than the doctors could fight it. At 52, Mario lost that battle. We are all heartbroken.Mario was preceded in death by his mother, Rafaela Gonzalez de Muńiz. He is survived by his father, Alfonzo Muńiz Sr.,his son, Mario O. Muniz, Jr.(Felicia Gonzales Muniz) grandchildren; Antonio Cruz Lemos IV and Natalie Nadine Muniz; His daughter, Tiffany Muniz; grandson, Elijah David Benitez; daughter, Melissa Peña- Hernandez (Gustavo Hernandez) and granddaughter, Marysol Hernandez. Mario's siblings; Elma Rosa Moreno (Arvelio Moreno) their children; Arvelio Moreno, Jr., Ashley Moreno (Bernardo Barajas), great nephews, Leonardo Barajas and Aaron Moreno. Sister, Blanca E. Muńiz, her children; Josue Lemus(Anna Lemus,), their children, Josue Lemus Jr. Elexa P. Lemus, Francisco Lemus, Jr.(Minch August) their children; Balli Mimch and Francisco Lemus III , Julian Sanchez, Jr (Sandra Muniz) their children; Scarlet Muniz, Magdalena Sanchez (Raymundo Reyes) their children; Raymundo Reyes, Jr., Melody D. Reyes, Clarissa Z. Reyes, Naomi G. Reyes. Sister Myrna Muńiz Ortega (Manuel Ortega) and their children; Gregory B Muńiz(Cristal Muniz) their child, Analise Muńiz, Manuel Ortega Jr. and Rafaela Ortega. Sister Sandra Muńiz her children, Marco A. Barrera, Jr, Matthew J. Barrera and Melanie A. Barrera; and brother, Alfonso Muńiz Jr. (Maria Muńiz) and their children; Alfonso Muńiz III and Abigail M Muńiz. Mario's partner Susan. We will have a lot to share about his life. Mario has crossed paths with many people, some just acquaintances, but many, some great friends. A bright star has left us and he will be greatly missed.Visitation will be held at Stepping Stone on Wednesday, November 2 from 6 to 8 pm.
