Mary Faye Pope, 74 of Houston, Texas passed on September 10, 2015. She was born August 8, 1941 in Kaplan, Louisiana to Percy and Velma Lormand. She was a 1963 graduate of the University of Southwestern Louisiana. She was a member of the Tabeel Temple #88, Daughters of the Nile, Houston; where she was past queen and also a member of Ramallah Temple #89 of Galveston, Texas. Mary was employed for many years as a tax preparer for H. & R. Block. She was predeceased by her husband, Jesse Pope and a grandson Samuel Kerkman. Also her sister-in-law, Marie Lormond. She is survived by daughter, Karla Jones and son Marlin Kerkman both of Houston. Grandchildren, Aaron Jones, Adam Pope and James Pope, eight great-grandchildren, sisters: Patricia (Maurice) Serice of Pearland, Texas; Joan (Ray) Guidry of Eunice, Louisiana and brother Percy Lormand Jr. of Kaplan, Louisiana. Mary was also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Mary will be laid to rest with her husband, Jesse at Houston Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, Houston, Texas
