Vernell Price was born, June 17, 1940 in Lubbock, Texas to Le Roy Price and Maxine Smith (Jones). Vernell spent 22 years in the U.S. Marine Corps achieving the rank of Gunnery Sergeant and finishing up his career as a Recruitment Officer. He met a wonderful woman named Gwendolyn Flowers in Houston, Texas. He retired from the military, raised a family, and moved into the security field for the La Porte area plants. He was a devoted member of the Fleet Reserve Association, Branch 159, as well as an active member of St. Mark United Methodist Church. Vernell was preceded by his parents, Le Roy and Maxine. He is survived by his wife of 35+ years, Gwendolyn J (Flowers) Price. His children, Christopher Flowers, Tameka Vernell White and husbandClarence, Travis DeSean Price, Michael Jarmon Price and Angela Schandria Jackson and husband Wakeel. Vernell leaves a legacy with his grandchildren, Kayden Anthony Flowers, Aubree Marie Flowers, Clarence Anthony White, Corey Antoine White, Tavern Vernell White, Lily Price, Olivia Price and his brother, Calvin Smith and Cousin Orville Neison who was more like a brother. He had much love and respect for the Flowers family, so much so that he treated them like his own.
